SAN ANTONIO, TX – San Antonio police are looking for two men who they said pushed an elderly woman out of her wheelchair and robbed her outside a convenience store at 602 Labor St.
Mary Ellen English, 70, was traveling alone on her motorized wheelchair on the way to a neighborhood convenience store around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, only to find the store closed and two young men standing outside.She said that as she was leaving, one of the men followed her.
“He said, ‘Ma’am, do you have a dollar to lend me?’ and I said, ‘No, I don’t,’ so that’s when he pushed me out of my chair,” she said.
English said the suspect went after a bag on the arm of her chair but she didn’t have much money on her. The suspect got away with only $2.
“He knocked me out of the chair, but thank God I wasn’t hurt, because I used my hands to hold myself so I wouldn’t hit my face,” she said.
Afterwards, English said she got back into her chair, went to a Pik Nik store about five blocks away and asked the manager to use the phone to call police
